Description

The iconic “Harry Lime Theme” from the 1949 film noir classic The Third Man is brought to the brass band stage in this clever arrangement by John Glenesk Mortimer. Originally composed for and performed on the zither by Anton Karas, Mortimer captures the unique, rhythmic “plucking” character of the original through creative use of brass articulations. While there is no zither required, the band successfully evokes the atmospheric, post-war Vienna setting of the movie. It is a fantastic nostalgic item for any “Music from the Movies” program.

Difficulty 4

(Medium) A level 4 difficulty rating brings very challenging rhythms to the piece. Syncopation will be freely used, as will the more extreme ranges for all instruments.
