Description
Journey back to the 16th century with this elegant Pavan based on a theme by the English Renaissance master William Byrd. Arranged for modern brass band by Jean-Francois Michel, the piece maintains the stately, processional character of the original dance while utilizing the rich tonal palette of the brass ensemble. Michel’s arrangement is a tasteful bridge between the Renaissance and the modern era, offering a sophisticated and historically-inspired “color” piece for any program.
Difficulty 2
(Easy) Arranged for 2nd-3rd year players with semi-fluent technique, these pieces have intermediate rhythms with some syncopation, duplet and triplet rhythms. The ranges are less restricted, and some changing meter work is introduced.
