Originally the fifth movement of Coakley’s Divertimento for Violins and Cellos, Celebration is a bright and rhythmically driving work transcribed here for brass band. The piece maintains the energetic “string-like” articulations and conversational nature of the original. It is an excellent choice for a concert opener or a high-energy showcase of the band’s collective precision and rhythmic tightness.
