Beethoven’s powerful and dramatic Egmont Overture is expertly transcribed for brass band by John Glenesk Mortimer (with further work by Bertrand Moren). This setting preserves the dark, brooding opening and the triumphant, heroic finale of the original orchestral work. It is a major symphonic addition to the brass band repertoire, requiring great dynamic range and stylistic maturity. It is an ideal choice for a serious concert opener or a classical masterpiece highlight.
