Description
One of the most famous melodies in the classical repertoire, the “Andante” from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 (famously known as the theme from the film Elvira Madigan), is beautifully arranged for brass band by John Glenesk Mortimer. Mortimer translates the delicate orchestral and piano textures into a transparent and lyrical brass setting. It features alternate bass clef parts for Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba. It is a perfect choice for a “Classical Masterpieces” program, showcasing the band’s ability to play with refinement and poise.
Difficulty 3
(Medium) Fourth year players, or junior high-level students may require these arrangements to be properly challenged. These generally have free use of syncopation as well as section and solo scoring. Cues and cross cues will also be used less.
